A Big, Beautiful Win for America

June 04, 2025

The American Dream is back in reach and our nation is back on the path to prosperity, security, and sanity, thanks to the actions of the House of Representatives last week. With the House’s passage of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” we’ve shown that it is possible to return common sense to our government, protect taxpayers, secure our borders, and chart a course for national Golden Age – all in one package.

It’s a declaration that the American people – not bureaucrats, radical liberal activists, or unelected judges – are in charge again. This bill delivers on the promises that President Trump and Republicans made to voters last fall.

As it passed the House, the bill includes $1.6 trillion in mandatory savings by slashing waste, fraud, and abuse. It does not touch Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits for anyone entitled to them, but it strengthens Medicaid by imposing work requirements and tightening eligibility to prevent illegal immigrants from gaming the system. We not only restore integrity to the program but ensure it remains sustainable for the future. Crucially, the bill will also remove an estimated 1.4 million illegal aliens from Medicaid, preventing abuse and freeing up resources for American citizens.

In a move that’s vital to our continued economic recovery, the bill continues and expands on the amazing tax cuts from President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which did so much to boost the economy in his first term. Without this, families and small businesses will face a 24% tax hike when these cuts expire, which would be a gut punch to working Americans. By locking in lower tax rates, doubling the child tax credit, increasing the Death Tax exemption, and closing loopholes that let illegal aliens claim child tax benefits, we’re standing up for the families who are building this country – not those who are continuously breaking its laws.

The bill fulfills two major promises from President Trump by eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, putting more money directly into the pockets of millions of working Americans. For those in hospitality, food service, and hourly jobs, this means they finally get to keep what they earn. The bill also slashes taxes on Social Security benefits through deductions, and lets taxpayers fully deduct the interest on car loans for American-made vehicles.

America’s energy dominance took a beating under the Biden administration, but this legislation marks a hard pivot back to sanity on domestic energy policy. We end the coal moratorium, reduce excessive royalty rates, and direct the Secretary of the Interior to lease federal coal resources again. Quarterly oil and gas lease sales are back. The days of begging hostile nations for energy while shutting down American production are over. We’re putting our energy workers back on the job and reducing costs for consumers.

To address illegal immigration, we send a clear message in this bill: America is a sovereign nation, and we have the right – and the responsibility – to enforce our borders. We fund the construction of 701 miles of the border wall, provide for one million removals annually, add 10,000 new ICE personnel, and expand detention capacity to hold 100,000 illegal aliens on any given day. We also impose a fee structure on those filing immigration-related applications so that American taxpayers are no longer footing the bill for broken immigration policies.

This bill also ends the absurd practice of blue states using taxpayer funds to provide healthcare to illegal aliens. Medicaid is for Americans – full stop. We also ensure that the program cannot be used to pay for transgender surgeries, whether for minors or adults, a line that never should have been crossed in the first place.

On the national defense front, we fully fund President Trump’s visionary Golden Dome missile defense system. In a world that’s growing more dangerous by the day, our nation must remain prepared to defend itself from any threat, foreign or domestic. This investment sends a clear message to our enemies: American strength is back.

We’ve also eliminated taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. The American people should not be forced to subsidize the largest abortion provider in the country. This provision alone is a major victory for the sanctity of life and the conscience rights of millions of Americans.

This is what leadership looks like. This is what keeping promises looks like. And this is just the beginning. I’m also hopeful that the Senate can add additional savings achieved by the DOGE Commission, which would make a good bill even better.

Senators should pass this bill without delay, and we must get it to President Trump for his signature. The country can’t afford anything less.
